CalNurCo #14 - Guadalupe Palm, Palma de Guadalupe

The Guadalupe palm is the palm on the left.
Another set of rescued trees (From Rock Ave. and Niles Blvd.).  These trees are native to a coastal island off Mexico's Pacific Coast.  Closely related to the Mexican and California Fan Palms, and similar in appearance, this tree is smaller and slower growing.  An ideal palm for residential property where size is an issue.

In this area are also cork oak, persimmon, and Lombardy Poplar trees.

This palm is endangered on its native Guadalupe Island where a huge goat population changed the island from forested to denuded.  The goats were removed in 2005.
