CalNurCo #2 - the office building

"Our office building: On Lawn, Cocos australis"
From the 1915 catalog

The office was built in 1907 and modified after 1939 to give it a Spanish style.  These offices were used to create catalogs, posters, and other advertising as well as correspondence with California Nursery's domestic and international customers.  The Pindo Palms flanking the entrance were planted on Arbor Day in 2002 to replace similar trees known to have been planted there in the past.

Pindo Palms are also known as Cocos australis, Butia palm, Jelly palm, or Butia capitata.

The original metal roof was replaced by a tile roof. Check out the beautiful detail
of swallows on the roof tiles. These endcaps prevented birds from nesting in the roof.
