Explore the park, its trees, and buildings
- Print out the California Legacy Council walking tour map or view it on your smartphone.
- Use the convenient QR codes around the park. Most of them will bring up the information in the California Legacy Council map. Look for the QR codes on the CalNurCo signs and other spots.
- The City of Fremont created (2012) the "Landmark Trees of the City of Fremont". (It's big so look at it from home.) You can print out this very good guide of significant trees of Fremont. There are about 16 landmark trees on the grounds of the California Nursery.
- In 2006, Boy Scout Troop 143 surveyed, identified, and mapped ALL of the trees on the property. The map is interactive and gives you Latin names and families. It is not maintained any longer, but remains helpful as one of the ways to ID trees.
- The Roadside Arboretum of the Washington Township is an interactive map that locates the Landmark Trees from the 1974 list and also includes additional significant trees. The map covers 8 districts of Fremont, including Niles.
- And of course, the Official Registry of Big Trees of California is a good resource.
